Evaluate and Tools
Measure
Evaluate ▸ Measure, Tools ▸ Measure… or the view's right-click menu. Click vertices, edges, faces, planes or sketch lines; with two items picked it shows the distance between them plus dX, dY and dZ. Use the body filter (B) to pick whole bodies. Sizes are in the document's units.
Mass Properties
Evaluate ▸ Mass Properties shows mass, volume, surface area and centre of mass. It adds up every body with its own density and lists the bodies. A body with no material uses 1.00 g/cm³.
Interference Check
Evaluate ▸ Interference Check finds where the solid bodies of a part overlap. It lists each pair with its overlap volume and shows the overlaps in red. Assemblies have their own (see the Assemblies chapter).
Surface analysis
These displays colour the model to show the quality of its faces. Click the button again to turn its display off.
| Command | Shows |
|---|---|
| Zebra Stripes | Reflected stripes on every body. Across a smooth join the stripes run on without a kink. |
| Curvature | Bodies coloured from blue (flat) through green and yellow to red (tightest). The status bar gives the radius red stands for. |
| Draft Analysis | Choose a pull direction (an axis or a selected face's normal) and the draft needed. Faces turn green with enough draft, yellow where they need more, and red with draft the other way. |
Configurations
Evaluate ▸ Configurations opens the design table (see the Configurations chapter).
Equations and global variables
Tools ▸ Equations… holds global variables that can be used in any dimension or feature value. Example: width = 120, then set a depth to width/4. Each row shows the value it evaluates to; invalid or duplicate names are flagged.
Every value field accepts:
| Item | Examples |
|---|---|
| Operators | + - * / ^ % and parentheses |
| Variables | Any name from Equations |
| Trigonometry (degrees) | sin cos tan asin acos atan |
| Other functions | sqrt abs min max round floor ceil pow |
| Constants | pi |
| Units of length | 2in, 30 mm, 1.5cm, 2ft, (w/2)*in (see Units) |
A value may start with =. Variable names start with a letter or underscore and can't be a function name.
Edit Material
Tools ▸ Edit Material… (or the Material item in the tree) sets the part material. See Appendix B for the list.
