Configurations

A configuration is a variant of a part or assembly: other values for the global variables and other features suppressed in a part, other part configurations and components shown in an assembly.

The Configurations tab

The Configurations tab sits next to the Feature tree and the Property panel at the top of the left panel. It lists Default and every configuration, the one shown ticked, each with a summary of what it changes.

  • Double-click a configuration to show it. The tree shows its name next to the part.
  • + Add Configuration makes a new one starting from the one shown.
  • Right-click for Show Configuration, Rename, Copy Configuration, Properties (Design Table) and Delete.

What a part configuration changes

  • Variable values: each configuration can give the global variables (Tools ▸ Equations) other values.
  • Suppressed features: while a configuration is shown, Suppress / Unsuppress in the tree changes that configuration only. The tree greys out what it suppresses.

Design table

Design Table… in the Configurations tab (or right-click ▸ Properties (Design Table), or Configurations on the Evaluate tab) edits all the configurations in one table. The table can be copied to and pasted from a spreadsheet as CSV.

Configurations in assemblies

Assemblies have the same tab. While an assembly configuration is shown, these change that configuration only: a component's part configuration, Hide / Show, Suppress (a suppressed component is left out, with its mates) and a mate's Suppress or value. See the Assemblies chapter for how components use part configurations.
